CAMPBELLat theLAW OFFICE of MASON & CAMPBELLin JEFFERSON, TEXA$during the year of 1874 . Their office was located at the corner of POLK and AUSTIN STREETS .This letter is hand written & signed by T. J. CAMPBELL.W. H. Mason was once a Dallas lawyer and was a former Confederate soldier. CONDITION: Normal letter folds, a small chunk missing from the top, a hole in the center of the letterhead which is slightly to the right. Both of those mentioned defects are visible in the scan. Regardless of those few flaws, this letter is still in pretty darn good shape for its age. The «EBAY ITEM» thing is just a loose piece of paper that is not attached to the item that is for sale.THE PICTURE of Thomas J. Campbell is NOT FOR SALE. She was the daughter of the prominent attorney William Jay Haskett, New York. Haskett’s obituary reads, «. Who Died in the City of New York, February 27th, 1874. Aged 13 Years. She ‘being dead, yet speaketh,’ Presented to Miss Addie Stiger, of New York.».
1873 Goss-Udderzook Tragedy of Deception & Murder Book, 1st Printing
1873 The Goss-Udderzook Tragedy of Deception and Murder Pamphlet First Printing. Measures approximately 5.5″ x 9″. Baltimore Gazette Printers and a total of 59 pages. Goss and Udderzook were brother-in-laws and the devised a scheme to fake the death of Goss to collect the life insurance money. They used a medical school cadaver for the body which was burned. Investigators became suspicious and the Udderzook then killed Goss. The scheme failed and Udderzook was found guilty of murder and was hanged in 1874. Some staining/toning present but binding remains strong. Overall condition is very good for its age.

Background: Early Ephemera was removed from the Historic Colt Building in Hartford Connecticut. From 1877-1901 Atlantic Screw Works rented Space from Elizabeth Hart Jarvis Colt, Widow of Samuel Colt (Colt’s Firearms Manufacturing Company) in the West Armory. In 1903 they moved to a newly build structure located on Charter Oak Avenue. Ephemera we are offering has been sealed for 100 plus years and was removed from the Charter Oak Location in 1975. Removed from the safe at Atlantic Screw Works and kept within the Tilton family Before 1877 the Proprietor of Atlantic Screw Works George W. Bruce operated a successful business located on 1 Platt Street in New York City, selling Hardware, Cutlery, Tools, Chains, Horse/Mule Shoes & Nails, Anvils, Vices and Hammers. Around 1874 he started purchasing Threding Machines and European Patents to Threding Machines for his new business inside the West Colt Armory, Hartford Connecticut. Because of Health Issues, George W Bruce sold The Atlantic Screw Works to a Superintendent David Tilton in 1886, company ownership remained under the Tilton name until closing in 1975. Listing: Deed from Elizabeth Colt to David Tilton for part of the Historic Armory Estate. Dec 21st 1901 We have confirmed the Signature of Elizabeth H Colt. As Mrs Colt signed as Mrs Samuel Colt on non Legal Paperwork she signed Elizabeth H Colt on Legal. Signature appears after Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of. Document was written out by the Justice of the Peace Arthur (illegible) with two signatures. Elizabeth H Colt and Arthur B Peck. 16″ X 10″ Very Good Condition
